Other Notes
The Rock & Roll Souljer appears to want to do good. He wants to use his music to fight depression (and even rid people of allergies?). However, he seems to merely replace the depression with a dependence... on himself. Instead of seeing him as a therapist, girls see him as a potential boyfriend and boys see him as a best friend.
Also a problem is that his powers are too... powerful. He only wants people to relax-- experience their emotions, acknowledge their impulses-- but he can drive them literally insane instead. They follow him and imitate him. He becomes a sort of guru or cult leader, without intending to.
While it is true that some people on mental medication should not be on it (or so much of it) and he does have a point about that... it's ALSO true that some people DO need to be on medication, and denying that fact can cause a lot of harm. So the mental-health establishment and he are at odds; even if they counsel a measured approach, he says they are in it for their own gain.
Music therapy helps millions of people. But it should be seen as one tool in a large toolbox, not as the only answer to the exclusion of all else... and the fallout of Rock & Roll Souljer's inability to grasp that nuance proves why.
