Scientists observing the Sun do so at such a distance that the appearance of one human-size entity emerging from it goes unnoticed. He, or she, lands on Earth and begins using a combination of time travel and mental telepathy to inform people of the way in which they will die. This information naturally leaves people altered: "I'll never be the same again/ Now I've seen the way it's got to end."
His own ability to fly means he can easily make other see him as a ghost, angel, alien, superhero, etc. We have met Strange Magic before, possibly, in the story A Christmas Carol. What if Strange Magic were to appear to someone in Dickens' time? That person would have no concept of a space-alien, so it would use telepathy to make Scrooge see a familiar face, as a ghost (Jacob Marley, in this case). Then it would use time travel to take Scrooge to different points in his life, each time appearing as a contextually appropriate character (using Scrooge's own thoughts as a basis). In other words, all 4 ghosts were one entity, only appearing differently to Scrooge... who sees his own gravestone, and so returns to his own time and place a changed man. At another time, Strange Magic goes to Bedford Falls, USA and appears as an angel to one George Bailey... |
