Between his drugs, his many mental powers*, his control over space and time-- or at least the perception of such-- a young woman is completely helpless. Moreover, he alluringly makes them feel adult while their parents want them to remain the children they are. *Magic Man's magical eyes and hands make a young woman feel like she can't leave, like they know each other (so it's not talking to a stranger), make her lose her sense of time ("winter nights... summer passed to fall")... what chance does she have?
