Other Notes
A portal opens, and a spaceship emerges and lands. Four creatures disembark. One is a menacing soldier, one is a matronly being, one is a worm-like beast, and one is... a bird. They are biologists who seek to find and mentally interact with all the life they can come across; they introduce themselves as Life Seekers.
You instinctively hug the motherly one (whom you come to call Mother Life); while she is holding you in her inescapable grasp, she absorbs all your knowledge, but will never reveal anything; if she does, she forgets it.
You will be unaware of the passage of time while this happens, and it will be dark all around you. This is the doing of the soldier, whose uniform so resembles those from the movie Starship Troopers you mentally name him Starship Trooper. He is busy capturing, and downloading, your soul. If you do communicate with him, you learn that he knows the entirely of history, down to the minutiae. In exchange for a copy of your soul, he will tell you anything that happened, back to the Ice Age.
Last, there is a creature you can only think of as a bluebird. She holds the internal memories of all life on Earth, collected by Mother Life. Even in the general darkness created by the Trooper, you can still see the bird, as she glows. And while you ask your questions, she blocks your mind from knowing things you should not. But they also share knowledge of their world and "people."
All this time, the dragon-like beast patrols the edges of the space you all occupy, to scare away the curious. Through holograms, the Seekers reveal to you things about yourself you never realized. You return the favor by projecting images of the one thing they couldn't otherwise know, because it hasn't yet happened-- your vision of your future self.
Satisfied at having collected all of the data they could possibly mine from you, they leave in their spacecraft. Light returns, and you are once again aware of time.
A record of all that is you has been taken, but you received amazing knowledge in return. Never have you been so intimately known, or felt more accepted; now that they have gone, deep loneliness sets in. No one may believe you... unless they have encountered the Life Seekers themselves.
