Here, we meet Rocket Man, a guy who has the mindblowing job of flying a rocket back and forth to Mars. But to himself, he's just a glorified bus driver. The fact that he has the longest commute in history may be impressive to us, but to him it just means more time away from his family. Although, given that he admits that he's "not the man they think [he is] at home," he would probably not be happy there, either, shuttling not to space but to and from the school and grocery store and soccer practice. Shaw said something like, "It is the blessing and curse of man that he can get accustomed to anything." And someday, even trips to Mars will just be another day at work. |
