Other Notes
Very little is known about the mythical creature called the basilisk, since its very sight turns its viewer to stone, Similarly, we don't even know the name of That Girl who casts the Purple Haze spell, because we never get a chance to know her or anything about her. In fact, her very presence-- if she casts her spell-- obscures all sense of self or reality. How can you know a person under such circumstances? You would barely know yourself.
You wouldn't be able to make out very much of a police report, for instance, since you could not say what she looked like or when and where you encountered her.
It's possible that even those observing from, say, a nearby office window two stories up would even know what happened, as they may not be able to see the haze themselves-- it may exist entirely in the victims' brains. They would look down, see the victim writhing disorientedly, and call 911. They might have no idea that the victim was even the target of an outside attack; they would assume they were sick or drugged.
But eventually, there would be multiple medical reports by victims in one city or region feeling lost in a "purple haze." None, or few, would show signs of drug use. Collected security footage night show the same unaffected woman at many of the scenes, and she may even eventually be identified. But then, how do you catch someone who, as soon as she knows you're there, "hazes" your brain into complete confusion?
