Other Notes
Big Generator is a machine that hosts many lifeforms that exist in symbiosis with it. They operate it and it sustains them; the operators think and speak as one.
Since all living things (all things, in fact) vibrate at a given frequency, the notion of the symbiotes in the Generator is that social harmony can be produced literally-- if all residents of a given area were to vibrate at the same frequency, they reason, they would all get along and work together for common goals. They liken this frequency to an "anthem"-- everyone singing the same song, about their unified purpose, at once. Only they aren't singing it with their voices, but with their bodies, which the generator causes to function as resonators.
While intending to bring harmony, the Generator ends up causing major physical trauma, even death, to those bodies it tries to align with the group's average frequency.
However, some-- those who confuse unity with uniformity-- at first find the Generator's message ("there is a reason to experience... be the chorus") welcome, even messianic. They learn too late that our differences are natural, necessary... and not to be changed at a whim.
